The second annual ATC Alumni Rally destination has been selected! This year we will be meeting at the Old Barn Resort in Preston, Minnesota. You may be wondering why we chose this location, and after you hear more you’re going to be telling everyone about this hot spot!
The Old Barn Resort has all of the amenities that toy hauler owners expressed interest in: hook-ups, pull-through spots, and a great space to be able to meet. There are also a wide variety of activities to do during free time right on the campground, such as: biking, golfing, river tubing, an indoor pool, and trout fishing.
Preston, Minnesota offers something different and exciting for everyone. In a state where “the mosquito is the state bird” is a running joke, this area is a mysterious oasis, free from the blood-sucking pests.
Forestville Mystery Cave State Park features beautiful underground pools and unique rock formations. During hot summer days it is a nice escape, with the consistent 48* weather. I recommend bringing a light jacket, especially for those not used to cooler temps.
While you are at the park, go back in time at Historic Forestville, a restored village from the turn of 20th century. Historic characters are dressed up and they can tell you all about what life in the past was like, while showing you around their homes and general store.
Another unique experience is visiting the many Amish homes in the area. Some of the Amish families open up shops with homemade goods, and while you are there you can get a small glimpse of what their homes and farms look like. You’ll likely see horses and buggies, homemade clothes hanging on clotheslines, and old-fashioned houses. You can visit these stores on your own (they will likely be amazed by your trucks) or if you’d like to learn in-depth information, you can also take a tour.
The “land of 10,000 lakes” is also home to the National Trout Center. You can learn about all types of trout, wildlife, and geology. You can even give fly fishing a try!
Since Toppers and Trailers Plus in Mankato, MN (located 2 hours to the west) is this year’s Aluminum Sponsor, they are excited to showcase what their state has to offer and can’t wait to share these experiences with you. We hope to see you there!
